I learned some things yesterday and I want to share my new knowledge. Did you know that there is no federal law in Italy that forces people to eat at every gelateria they walk past? If someone were watching me they would believe that I have been operating under the idea that such a law exists. Its hard to pass them by when the stuff is so damn good. I had fig gelato yesterday and it was one of the best things I've had.
The other thing I learned is that just because a bottle of wine is inexpensive and delicious you do not have to drink the whole thing. I didn't quite finish one off last night but I came close and that was after a scotch at a bar right before. I'm paying more than euro for that wine last night.
Today I'm off for the Vatican for a private tour. Yesterday I went on a similar tour of the colosseum. It was really well done and worth the money, I'll write more about that later.
Si dovrebbe vivere la tua vita
Okay, you seem to be learning some VERY
ReplyDeletevaluable lessons. The best thing about the wine is that there are no hangovers in Italy. I hope you are keeping a log on all the unique gelati you have consumed. It may also differ from region to region, so keep that in mind. I am truly interested.
So how was Bene today. I assume you gave him my best. I spent some time with the BVM last night. Seeing as how Bene and I are both persons of the cloth, I am betting that is how he allowed you an audience. I look forward to any revelations you may wish to share.
So your beautiful wife has informed me that you are off to Florence-I am SO excited for you!! I can't wait to hear you describe seeing big naked David for the first time...oh, my it is impressive. Also, keep in mind that as you tour the Duomo, that it was the site of the assassination of one of the Medici brothers and the attempt on the others life. You used to be able to spend a few euros and climb up into the Duomo and have an impressive view of all of Fierenza. Oh, I am so excited and jealous!! I hope you still will go to Ripabattoni, you may not want to leave Tuscany...can't wait for your next entry...it has been extremely entertaining.
arrivaderci...la dolce vita, Miguel
You are right. No hangovers at all. A little slo but that could be due to the jet lag.
ReplyDeleteBene or pops as he kept insisting I call him was much mor e fun than I would have thought. That man can put awayi the wine too. He had a message for you. He says you two have a lot in common, He completed much of his training through a series of correspondence courses, the internet was not available at the time. One of his electives was actually a dance class called the Cardinal Can-Can.
LOVED this post, too! The gelato & wine - yes, you must indulge at every single shop or doorstep!
